Highs and Lows

Hello everyone! This week was an interesting one.

This week started off awesome with interviews! I had such a good conversation with my mission president where I got lots of advice and he gave me the confidence I needed. Then that day was so warm and sunny. I had so much fun knocking doors and talking to people outside.

The big low of the week was when we had a very disturbing and kinda scary call with a friend. Let's just say we are not allowed to meet with them anymore.

A miracle in disguise is when our lesson didn't show up. After waiting a little for one of our lessons we called him and he said he forgot and wasn't coming. So we decided we'd talk to the few people in the restaurant and head to our next thing. I decided to talk to the worker on break (I normally don't talk to workers cause I'm scared of getting kicked out) but the spirit prompted me to and I am happy I did. He is SO cool! I was able to teach him a few things and give him a Book of Mormon right there. We had an awesome lesson at the end of the week AND he came to church!

We had an awesome lesson with someone who sent in an ad and he came to church too! He is super cool and super open to learn.

A sad moment was when I talked to this super cool girl at a grocery store but then when we texted her she said she wasn't interested. BUT a sweet old lady we talked to said she felt the spirit when I handed her a card, so sweet!

Sunday was SO good! Like I said 2 friends came to church plus a few former people we taught were there. All the talks were so good in church. They were all about our Heavenly Father and Savior's love for us.

Then that evening we had a devotional with Bonnie Cordon. SO GOOD! Our friend Joey was able to come and he loved the devotional and visitors center. AND I saw the Mays!!!!!!! I won't lie that was the HIGHLIGHT of my week! A true blessing from God.

For pday we did a little mall scavenger hunt and we didn't win but we got second, so pretty fun.

Spiritual thought:
During the devotional Bonnie Cordon talked about how Christ is "The Great I Am" and how in life we are going to be faced with challenges that we don't think we can do. She taught that in these moments we need to remember that Christ can do them so if we rely on him we can do anything.

Love you all!
(We're going to the temple next week so my next pday will be the 26th)

🌸Feels Like Spring 🌸

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week. This week was overall good.

I had a slightly clumsy start to the week when I accidentally sliced my finger with my razor, oops hehe. But don't you fret I am alright it was just a funny dumb thing that happened.

An awesome miracle is that our new member has another friend he wants to introduce us too so I'm super pumped for that!

We had the most AMAZING lesson with our friend Joey! As we taught him and read scriptures on being baptized so we can become as clean as a little child he started tearing up because of the spirit he felt. Everyone please pray for him to feel that confidence he needs in deciding to be baptized.

We had Zone Conference on Friday and it was super good! We talked alot about experiencing true joy by focusing our lives on Christ.

Sunday was SO good! A major highlight was how warm it was! A short sleeve and no jacket was amazing! Our friend Joey also came to church!

While knocking Sunday evening we had a dog follow us for a little which was kinda funny (don't worry it got returned to it's owners). We saw a major miracle Sunday evening when doing calls we got a new person to teach (our only new person this week)!

For pday we are playing dodge ball with our zone and mission president, so wish me luck!

Spiritual Thought:
For our Sunday night devotional this week we studied The Brother of Jared and I just loved Ether 3
"5 Behold, O Lord, thou canst do this. We know that thou art able to show forth great power, which looks small unto the understanding of men."
It is an amazing reminder that all we need to be is humble and have faith and we can see the miracles of the Lord as we plead for them.

Until next week!

My 1st Baptism!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week! This week was overall pretty good!

An awesome miracle we saw while visiting formers is we got in contact with one but he said he was too busy to meet anytime soon so we gave him a card, told him to reach out when he's available, and went on our way. A few hours later while street contacting he calls us! We were able to have a good conversation and lesson over the phone. Hopefully we will be able to meet this week. 🤞
Thursday I was just having an off day. Little things were making me stressed and things were just not going as planned. Then we got bashed at Chick Fil E, rip. But there were tender mercies throughout and now I just laugh looking back at it. Prior to getting bashed we talked to a super nice lady at a grocery store and had an awesome lesson with one of our new members. It was after I got my "pick me up" ice cream cone that we got bashed. Let's just say we tried to be nice cause we know what it's like when you're trying to share your beliefs with others but when he started hating on the Book of Mormon I politely shut him down and told him to have a nice day. Afterwards Sister Erickson and I laughed about what we could have said and continued our night.
Friday we had some awesome lessons! One was with a friend who isn't interested in converting but he was so respectful and we had an awesome conversation and lesson with him.
Our other lesson was SO good! This friend came upon some anti but rather than allowing it to scare himself off he came to us for clarifications! We then taught him the restoration and at the end he asked us what it would mean if he thought The Book of Mormon was true. We told him that he would need to decide if he wants to work towards baptism. This week we are going to see if we can put him On Date!
Saturday was so good! It was warm so we were able to do comp study outside and it's was just the best! We had a lesson with one of our other new members and got to have dinner with one of my favorite families.
SUNDAY!!!! John F's baptism happened!!! This was my first baptism so I was STRESSED! Luckily I followed the council of past companions and brought an extra towel because he did forget one lol. He was so happy after and it was so awesome!
For pday today we're mostly running errands so it's gonna be a fun day.
Spiritual thought: In the talk,  "Ask the Missionaries! They Can Help You!" By President Nelson he says,
"The decision to serve a mission will shape the spiritual destiny of the missionary, his or her spouse, and their posterity for generations to come."
This isn't only applicable to missionaries but every member of the church. As we are faithful and do all we can to follow Christ, God will bless and help our loved ones stay rooted to him. He does this because he loves us and is aware of our efforts.

Love you all!

Down to 2

Happy Monday! Nothing super crazy this week but a good one.

Because of transfers and Sister Bell ending her mission we are down to 2 sisters on Kent Island so we've been adjusting but it's been good.

We were able to help some members who we helped move last week do some cleaning in their old house before their walk through.

We were able to have a lesson with one of our new members who hasn't had a lesson since he was baptized so that was awesome!

A miracle that happened that night is that we decided to call 1 more person because it wasn't quite time to head home and he ended up being pretty cool and we have a lesson set up with this week.

Sunday was pretty good, 2/2 friends that we were planning on being at church came + this guy we never met who apparently has worked with one of new members came! We set up a lesson with him too!

We got hit with some more snow Sunday but luckily we were able to have our lesson with some members before our cars got grounded.

We were still grounded this morning so my we've just been home but it' been good to rest. We got ungrounded a few hours ago and were able to get some groceries and an oil change.

Spiritual thought: I have been studying about Abinadi in the Book of Mormon and let me tell you, he is so awesome. In Mosiah 17:10 he says some of his last words,
"10 Yea, and I will suffer even until death, and I will not recall my words, and they shall stand as a testimony against you. And if ye slay me ye will shed innocent blood, and this shall also stand as a testimony against you at the last day."
I just love his faith, testimony, and love for God. He literally died for his faith. It makes me want to do better and do things to strengthen and testify of my faith more.

Love you all!

1 Year!!!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing great! This week was pretty chill.

Most of the week was just pretty typical missionary work. We had a few lessons, members meals, visits, and finding.

A major miracle was that we got back in contact with our friend who was supposed to get baptized last week. Let's just say Satan was working hard on him but we had a lesson and he's back on track.

Another awesome miracle is that our friend who was atheist went from not believing in Christ to being 50% believing now! It's so cool to see his faith grow!

The day before Valentines Day a member did a nice dinner for us and got us little treats which was so sweet!

On actual Valentines Day we made heart pizzas with a family in the branch and then helped them pack for a few hours. Good times!

On Sunday one of our new friends came to church for the first time and he said he's gonna come back and we're meeting with him this week!

Yesterday we had transfer calls. One of my comps has finished her mission so she is going home and Sister Erickson and I are both staying. It's going to be a fun transfer.

Yesterday evening we got a referral from a member of a woman who recently lost her husband. Her husband's friend was a member and she is interested in learning more. A major miracle from God! We're excited to help her.

Today we dropped my comp who's going home off and then we got Boba to celebrate my 1 year! You heard me right, I have been a missionary for 1 year!

I won't lie this year has probably been one of the hardest years of my life but it has also been the most sacred. I have learned and grown so much in so many ways. I have become a better and more patient person and have become a better disciple of Christ.

In this year I have grown to know who my Savior is to me and have grown to truly LOVE the Book of Mormon. Reading it is often the highlight of my day.

Here's a verse I've grown to love,
Alma 7:12
"12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."
This verse brings me comfort knowing that Christ suffered for me to know how to comfort me in times of need and did for you, too.

Love you all!

Trusting in God

Hello everyone! I won't lie, this week was a rough one but there were still good things and miracles from God.

The week started with an awesome lesson with our friend Alex who said he is not "opposed" to the idea of baptism. This is a major step because when we first started teaching Alex he didn't even have a belief in Christ.

Sadly this is when things took a turn and we really had to trust in God. Tuesday evening we were supposed to have a Book of Mormon reading over the phone with our friend who was supposed to get baptized yesterday but he didn't answer (not like him) and he wasn't responding to our texts.

The next day he canceled his baptismal interview and wasn't responding to our calls or texts. We still haven't been able to get in contact with him but we are trusting in God.

A miracle God blessed us with was while knocking we met the nephew of a member. This nephew is not a member so we got his number and hope he responds to us soon.

Highlight of the week was the Sister's Conference on Thursday! I got to see all my old companions (including Sis.Hendrix 🫶). It was so spirit filled! We learned about the importance of our covenants and how they provide us access to the priesthood. We learned about the worth of our role as women in the church and missionaries.

That evening we had an awesome lesson over the phone with our friend Sam. He is so elect! Sadly, we learned that he was leaving back to Houston Sunday (yesterday). He's gonna be gone for at least a month so I hope the missionaries there take good care of him.

The rest of the week we had a few lessons and visited some members.

For pday we are going to a few different shops which should be fun.

Also, shout out to Sister Erickson who taught me how to crochet!

Spiritual Thought: One of my favorite scriptures to share with people on the street is Moroni 10:32. It says,
"32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."
Sometimes after reading it I like to replace the word "grace" for "love" it is through the love of God that we can be perfected in Christ. Remember that he loves you SO much!

Love you all!

God Is Good!

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great week! This week on the Island was pretty good!

We still weren't allowed to drive Tuesday but we were able to still do some good missionary work. We had a few zoom lessons with our friends then bundled up and very carefully walked outside. Freezing rain is no joke, our car was covered in ice and trapped in snow. Luckily we have awesome members in our branch who were willing to help dig us out. After that we walked to a neighborhood to do some knocking.

The rest of the week we were able to drive which was super nice!

We were able to have some great lessons with a few different of our friends, one of which wants to be baptized! I'm so excited to see how he and our other friends progress.

On Saturday we had interviews with our mission president and they were so good! I received lots of guidance for me and my area so I'm excited to see where things go.

We had a phone call lesson with one of our friends and he had his mom listen in and now we have a lesson with both of them this week! Major Miracle!

We had stake conference this week all the talks were about Christ's love, making and keeping covenants, and helping our loved ones come back to the blessings of this gospel. So good!

On Sunday we went to a baptism of one of my companions' friends. Quincidentally he was a friend of ALL my proselyting companions so I got to see them all! It was such a major blessing from God!

For pday today we're heading to DC with our district! It should be fun!

Spiritual thought: This is a quote of what someone shared at Stake Conference, "There's nothing I have to accomplish before I can plead to my Heavenly Father. I just need to turn to Him and accept the power of my Savior's Atonement."
Don't hesitate to turn to your Heavenly Father and accept the blessings of the Atonement. They are waiting for you with arms outstretched.

Love you all!

✨️Temple Day✨️

Hello everyone! We had a temple pday this week so that's why you're hearing from me today. A lot has happened since my last email so...
