Trainer to Trainee

Hello everyone, you might be confused by the subject, let me explain:

On Friday I was given a new assignment to serve at the Johnson Home in Hiram, so I moved up here Monday, so my greenie got a new trainer and now I'm being trained again. My pday is now Mondays again starting next week (assuming the seniors don't need to trade). I'm super excited to serve in Hiram! I've really wanted to serve there, plus Sister Stewart is my trainer and I love her so much! I am sad to leave everyone, especially Sister Hendrix, she's really become my 2nd half, but it's okay cause I have game nights every Saturday.
Other events that took place these last few days:
-We did a service project at Fairport Harbor. We cleaned the museum there. After we were done cleaning we were told the history of the Saints coming into Ohio there, which was pretty cool. We were also able to go up the light house!
-I had my last Sunday at the Perry Ward. But my new ward is a 30 second drive compared to a 30 minute drive which is nice.
-It's been such a fun experience learning this tour. The Johnson Home has lots of fun designs so it's interesting the whole tour. And the stories and events that took place here are very special.
-Today for pday we went to Amish Country and we got some homemade candy/chocolates and lunch. We're going on a little hike later which is gonna be fun.
Spiritual thought:
Being out here I've really learned that God knows what we truly need. I was sad to leave everyone in Kirtland (and I still really miss them) but when I got here in Hiram I just felt peace and I've been so happy here. It's really showed me that God truly knows what is best for me. It's the same for all of us.
Love you all! Talk to you next week!

P-Day Switch

Hello everyone! My pday is Thursday now till they switch it again lol. This email will probably be a little longer since I've had a few extra days since my last email so bare with me.

This week was full of a lot of emotions.
I'm gonna switch things up and start with a spiritual thought: God truly does listen to our prayers and if we actively try to be more like the Savior and do what God wants of us, we will be blessed.
That kinda leads into what my week was like. I won't lie part of this week was kinda rough. But as I prayed to God and really put in effort to be like Christ I've been able to see God helping me through it and answering my prayers. I'm gonna share a few experiences I had this week that really shows that.
- I was giving a tour in the temple and I just felt like I was doing awful. I had a hard time feeling the spirit and was feeling bad that I wasn't giving this group a spiritual experience. So I was praying so hard for help that the spirit would be with me. I get to the end of my tour and I was feeling a little better but still disappointed. Per usual I asked anyone if they had questions or comments before we left the temple and this man rose his hand hand and said he did. He bore such a strong testimony. During it I learned that Joseph Smith was his 3rd great grandpa. He told us how sister missionaries were the ones to bring his mom to the church. He also spoke of how grateful he was that the church now has ownership of the temple so missionaries like me can testify of Christ there. Then he was telling me how grateful he was for me. That validation was exactly what God knew I needed and I felt so blessed and seen by God in that moment.
- I also had a tour with a group of some kids. My initial thought was not excitement because tours are not an easy thing for kids to sit through. But to my surprise I start my tour and this little kid who I'm guessing was about 5 excitedly introduced himself to us. And as the tour went on he was very attentive. When we entered the School of the Prophets I started to talk as I usually do but then the kid rose his hand and I called on him and he said, "Is this where we learn about how Jesus loves us?" And in that room we share a quote about John Murdock seeing Christ and how he felt His love during that vision. So I was very impressed by the fact that this kid knew that was coming. Then at the end of my tour I always ask if anyone has any questions and he once again rose his hand and this time he said, "I know this is true" it was a such a simple but tender statement.
- I'm gonna combine 2 other special tours in 1. We gave one to a lady who works for a contracting company involving building temples (she was here for the Cleveland Temple) and then a different tour we did had a man from England (who sounded just like Prince Eric from the live action Little Mermaid) and he had served in the Cleveland mission in 1990. They were both so kind and I learned so much. They helped me remember that though I might not see the difference in people's lives I could be planting a seed for the future.

Through all of these I just wanted to show how God does really listen to our prayers and he will bless us as we mindfully do what he asks of us.

- Today for P-Day we went to a zoo and I fed a giraffe!

Thank you all for the love and support!

I'm Training

If you're thinking that title doesn't seem right knowing I've been out just over 2 months trust me it's just as weird for me haha.

We had a few major things happen this week:
- I had my last official day being companions with Sister Lane :( I love her so much!
- I got my new comp that I'm training on Wednesday, Sister Hale, she's super nice.
- We had a big bus tour day and had so many people that we had to do open house style tours. That's where we don't take people through the tours as formally and they come to you so I was in the Whitney Store Kitchen for half of it and the Sawmill the other half and let me tell you, it was a cold day to be standing outside at the Sawmill. But we got the 200 something people through all the sites so I'd call it a success.
- Instead of our typical game night Saturday we had a movie night and watched, "Escape From Germany" which I'd never seen before but it was so good! Extra bonus is that the Hirum sisters came down so I got to see Sister Stewart!
- Sunday we had a devotional by Bishop Waddell of the general bishopric and it was so good! He spoke a lot about temples and I actually want to share something he said as my spiritual thought: "It doesn't matter where it happened, it matters that it happened" He was referring to church history. Sometimes we get stuck on technicalities of church history and events that have taken place but that's not what matters. What matters is that the event took place. An example would be in the Kirtland Temple, we know pretty close to where Christ appeared, which is amazing, but it's the fact that he did appear and what he said/the blessings he brought that matters.
- Today is P-day and Sister Hendrix's birthday and we're doing a birthday dinner for her tonight (I'm making Alfredo) so we're going to get doing stuff to get ready for that. I'm also taking my comp to Down the Block for lunch because it is the place to go to in Kirtland.
That's my week. I hope everyone is doing great! Thank you for all the love and support!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! This week was good! Lots of fun stuff.

-We celebrated Sister Benson's birthday and we has a feast! We had crab, shrimp, potatoes (which I made), corn, and I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (my time at Twisted is paying off).
-I did a virtual tour with my family which was so fun! It was my first one so it wasn't perfect plus it was raining but it was still fun to so with them.
-We had a Next Chapter Dinner for the Heatons. They are the sweetest couple ever and I'm gonna miss them.
-There's this restaurant t here called Down The Block across from the temple and it is so good. So if you're ever in Kirtland you should go. These people paid for our food and the owners gave us fried dough with chocolate and caramel for free when we waited for our food. I love nice people!
-EASTER! We did a devotional in the temple in the morning and it was so good! The spirit was so strong! One of the senior elders sang "He is the Christ" and it was amazing. The talks were about the Atonement and the Easter when Christ appeared in the temple and they were all stories I've heard before but they hit different that day.

My spiritual thought is the quote I'll attach. Christ loves us all individually and he would have still gone through Atonement even if we were the only one on the Earth.

Love you all!

FOMOOSE

It's p-day again!

This week went by pretty fast.
-We did exchanges which was good. I spent the day with one of the STL's (Sister Altman).
-One of the senior sisters painted eggs for us for Easter and they are gorgeous!
-We had stake conference Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday they had a string quintet play "There Is A Green Hill Far Away" and it was amazing! We had 2 general authorities speak (from the 70) and our stake president was called to be a member of the 70 so pretty cool. Stake conference is where the FOMOOSE comes in. One of the speakers said that you should have FOMOOSE over FOMO and FOMOOSE is Fear Of Missing Out On Spiritual Experiences and I just really liked that. And credit to Sister Hendrix she's the og one with this email title.
-Today is p-day and pretty much just got lunch and went shopping.
That's pretty much it.

Spiritual Thought: In the October 2024 General Conference Talk, "Ye Are My Friends," Elder David L. Buckner (of the 70) said, "We must live our life so that the world does not see us but sees Him through us."
I love this because we need to strive to be an example of Christ and people will notice that light. That light makes such a big difference!

Thanks for the love and support!

It's me again

Hello everyone! Hopefully you're not sick of me since I have 2 emails so close. Not many things happened since Friday, but I'll give you a run down on what did:

-We worked in the temple Saturday. We gave 1 tour but that's okay because it made it so we didn't miss any conference.
-Sunday we didn't have anything till conference, so it was nice having some time to get some good studying done. We were at the village Sunday and did 1 tour and the family was great! It was so fun! And we only missed 10 minutes of conference so we were definitely super blessed.
-Today we went to Walmart which I never thought I'd say that Walmart would make me happy, but it does since it's a little taste of home haha. We got lunch, went to a gift shop, and picked up ice cream for the house. Now we're gonna clean, workout, and make dinner. So a pretty solid day.
-Conference was so good! I love how centered it was on our relationship with Christ and being more like Him, especially humble. This is so important for everyone and as a missionary it is such a good reminder for me.

Spiritual Thought:
Yesterday in General Conference Sister Ruina said something on the lines of, "I am not the voice in my head or the mistakes I have made. My worth is constant."
I love this! It is so easy to pick ourselves apart but how God sees us what truly matters! He loves us and sees us as His children because we truly are!

Love you guys!

I can officially give temple tours!

 Hello everyone!

My p-day got moved to today because we had a temple trip today. Here's some of the main stuff that happened this week:
-Last Thursday was the anniversary for the 189th year dedication of the Kirtland Temple and they had a program for it and the sisters sang in the choir so that was fun. And a male quintet sang If You Could Hie To Kolob and it was so good.
-Yesterday was the anniversary of Christ appearing to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the temple, accepting it as His house. And I got to give tours at the temple yesterday, so I felt super blessed with that opportunity.
-We had what's call a Next Chapter dinner where we celebrate and say goodbye to missionaries because one of the senior couples was leaving. It was a sad goodbye because they were amazing.
-On April Fools the sisters in my house switched name tags to throw off the senior couples. It was a fun, harmless prank.
-We passed off the Kirtland Temple tour so we get to work there now.
-Today we got to go to the Pittsburgh Temple.
*Spiritual thought: God hears our prayers even the prayers of our hearts. So I wasn't having the best week because life isn't perfect and being a missionary can be hard. So all I wanted was to see someone I remotely knew, but I doubted that would happen. Then one days these people from Clinton came and I was like okay that's cool but I didn't know them but it was something. Then this girl I've known since kindergarten and her mom who works with my mom and their family came and it just made me so happy. Then after that 2 people/families came who know people I'm friends with. It really spoke to me that God truly listens to my prayers even though they might seem silly. So I just want you all to remember that God listens to your prayers sometimes. They'll be as straight forward as my experience and sometimes it might take effort from us to recognize it, but he does answer them!
You all are amazing and I love you all so much!
